Seeds Planted...

There's an old school gospel song that says, we'll understand it better by and by....Here's a HILARIOUS FLASHBACK FRIDAY for ya. I literally fell out laughing watching this vintage footage, circa 1990...I was 10 years old in the clip below. I can't explain that ponytail or that bang and my mama should be ashamed of herself, cause clearly she didn't even try to pick up a comb that day. (Press play and prepare yourself, laughter loading, messing up my lines)

Now even though my moms strong suit was NOT combing hair, what she did do was expose me to books, the arts and culture. I was constantly surrounded by creativity. I remember her friend Deborah Anderson owned DeVonne Entertainment. Her friend Gerald White was a director who owned a production company called The Human Product Factory.

I never thought much of it as a kid, I just knew that I had to tag along and observe whatever my mother had us getting into that day. Funny I was even reading scripts in this clip. (That's my mom modeling in the beginning and in the sequins jacket at the end)

The Human Product Factory Crew. That's Visionary Gerald at the top!

My uncle David worked at the Woodruff Arts Center. We literally had tickets to everything! I got my first taste of theatre watching Joe Turners Come and Gone, plays by August Wilson & Kenny Leon. It's funny how when you look back over your life, you realize that nothing is coincidence.

What I didn't realize is that seeds were being planted in 10-year-old Tam. Something was being nurtured and molded that would lead me into this world of entertainment. I thank God for giving me mentors like Gerald & Deborah that I didn't even know I needed until I needed them. I thank God for childhood experiences that I can draw from through a different lens as an adult. OMG and the fact that Gerald (that's him behind me) has all of the footage is the icing on the cake.

I'm so grateful for everyone that I've met along the way. This journey has definitely led me to today, simply finding my place in this world of storytellers. What I know for sure is that everything is carefully orchestrated by the masters hands. Our ONLY job is to simply stick to the masters plan. What seeds are you planting today?

I ask myself that question each time I'm reminded of my favorite bible verse; Habakkuk 2:2, Write the vision and make it plain. @RevisWroteIt is my instagram name and that name was very intentional in the seeds that I plant daily. My hope is that we'll understand our place in this world better by and by with stories that remind us of "our why."

It might have taken 40 years to get here but I now know that belong in this seat...
