Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls...

Updated: Aug 15, 2020
I know that's what they say but....as it turns out that's exactly what we like to do. One of our favorite pass times is to go hiking. My kids and I (moreso me than them) are always looking for new trails, waterfalls and places to explore. This was our day at Tallulah Gorge. I love it there!
The beautiful part in it all is that we get to just talk about life while we go through nature's canvas, creating memories of our own while having conversations that I hope they'll remember.

Growing up as a teenager in the 90's, I remember TLC telling us...
Don't go chasing waterfalls
Please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to
I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all
But I think you're moving too fast
When I look at my girls growing up, I know it's my duty to have them hold on to this level of innocence for as long as possible, to not grow up too fast. But when I think about waterfalls... it seems that chasing them is exactly what I want them to do.
I want them to go after their dreams. I want them to see the world, travel abroad, live life fully, wholly and boldy....but understand that this journey in life is not a race. No need to sprint and if they learn to stroll through it, they can experience it with a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation throughout every season.
They'll have their entire lives to worry about this, that or the other. I make it a point to create sacred space wherever we go that holds room for laughter and lots of love. Nature is the best remedy to unplug, exhale and quiet the noise from our everyday routines. Sometimes we need that. Life can be tough but it can also be extremely generous if we let it.

Cute little free library we found while waiting for the park to open. I always tell my girls that you can't lead if you don't read.
