I PREFER SWEATS

Updated: Aug 15, 2020
Writing is not just something that I do. It's who I am. We're all blessed with different gifts and talents. Funny thing is that I didn't even know it was a gift until I realized that everybody can't do it. Just like everybody's not good at cooking or basketball or singing, we're each tasked with sharing our gifts with the world in only a way that we are able to do it.
My bestie makes jokes all the time about me being the only writer she knows that just won't write anything down. I watched Shonda Rhimes masterclass where she said, if you're a writer that doesn't write, maybe you just like the idea of calling yourself a writer. I had to investigate that within myself. My mother has always encouraged me to put this pen to paper. All I could think about is how this "dumbed down" world doesn't like to read. So......for the most part I ignored her. While I've always kept a journal, wrote a few articles for magazines here and there, I never took the gift seriously until I started doing some soul searching about my next chapter in life.
At 40, something feels different. I feel ready.....and moreso than that, I've got so many stories to tell! I realized that I've been given one of the most important jobs on earth! While some may challenge me on that, think about this....
WORDS!!!! WORDS have the power to build, destroy, start wars, move nations, spark revolutions, make you feel loved, hated, cherished, abandoned, bring iconic characters to your tv screens, and the list goes on. Words have power. The type of power that pushes us to new limits and forces us to become the realest, rawest, wisest version of ourselves. Hopefully you'll enjoy reading a few of mine....guess, there's a new storyteller in town!
